Our Postal Heritage: Collecting, Researching, and Preserving Post Cards and Postal Cards
Save the date and plan to attend the meeting of the Henrietta Historical Society on Sunday, February 21 from 2-3:30pm on Zoom. During this program, Preston Pierce, the Ontario County Historian, will take a comprehensive look at the development of the cards used to send brief messages (and later images) at a reduced postage rate. The program will begin with the first private post cards produced in 1861 and the first government postal cards produced in 1873. We will look at how those cards developed and changed into the mid-20th century and how they can be important historical sources. Finally, the program examines some important considerations for preserving post cards and postal cards in collectible or archival condition. This program is offered through the Henrietta Historical Society. Registration is required for this program. Please register here.
