  HPL Teen Summer Reading Program

June is a month of beginnings and endings!

• It is the beginning of summer vacation and the ending of the school year (YEAH)!!!
•  It is the beginning of a new Teen Summer Reading Program and the ending of the summer reading packets for teens in grades 6-12! Teens get to register, beginning June 23, and pick up cool folders at the Reference Desk! For more information about the new Express Yourself @ Your Library Teen Summer Reading Program, click here.
•  It is the beginning of a new Henrietta Teen Corner Blog and the opportunity to fill out book reviews, surveys, and make comments about the library online.  It is the end of using only paper book reviews as a way to earn raffle entries for great prizes!
•  It is the beginning of using a variety of different formats to Express Yourself @ Your Library from turning in art work you created, to filling out a book review online, to writing poetry, singing a song, and even taking digital photos to enter in the photography contest! It is the end of using only book reviews as a way to earn raffle entries for great prizes!
•  It is the beginning of having our own separate raffle for teens only!!  It is the end of being a part of the Children’s raffle.

Once you register for the Teen Summer Reading Program starting June 23, you will receive a raffle entry for each comment or item you submit online or hand in at the reference desk. Don’t forget to put your name on any comments, surveys, book reviews, art work, etc. that you either turn in at the reference desk or you submit online so you can earn a raffle entry. There will be six different “Grand Prize” raffle boxes for you to put your raffle entries. You make the choice of what prizes you would like a chance to win!! They will be located in the Teen Corner. Each week there will be 6 winners of a smaller prize to keep you motivated to enter a variety of different “works” you create. There will be a grand total of 42 teen winners (36 weekly winners and 6 grand prize winners).

Here is the Summer Programs for Teens  brochure for you to download. Make sure to register ahead for any programs that have an * next to the title.  Registration begins June 1 for some of the programs and June 23 for the later programs.

The Henrietta Teen Corner Blog is a place where you can fill out book reviews, answer survey questions, look at new books, and make comments about the Teen Corner. There is also an application to join the Teen Advisory Board for anyone interested in becoming a member. The website is www.eglena.wordpress.com. Take a look and let me know what you think.  Remember, once you register for the Teen Summer Reading Program, all online submissions with your name on them will earn a raffle entry. You must come to the reference desk to receive your raffle entries.

For the first time, HPL is having a Teen Photography Contest! It will run from June 23 through July 31. The winners will be announced on August 7 at the End of Summer Celebration. There are many different ways you can “Express Yourself” this summer at HPL!!! You can register for the Teen Summer Reading Program, attend a variety of programs for teens, check out the new Henrietta Teen Corner Blog, enter our photography contest, and visit the Teen Corner to relax and pick out some great books J
