Strolling Through Time

July 22, 2017 at 9:00 PM

I've been doing a lot of walking this summer and one of my absolute favorite places to take a stroll is Mt. Hope Cemetery off of Mt. Hope Avenue. The grounds are beautiful and I'm always discovering new paths to explore. Mt. Hope is a great place to walk, bike, or run without having to deal with traffic. I often see families with young children biking the paths, or people stopping to eat their lunch. While it is free to walk around, if you're looking for something a little more in-depth or historical, you can take a guided tour. Mt. Hope offers general tours for $5 per person. Tours are free for members on Sundays at 2 pm, or Thursdays at 7 pm from May 11-August 10. Special themed tours are offered for $7. To read more about the tours, visit the cemetery website. While you're out strolling, see if you can find some of Mt. Hope's more famous residents such as Susan B. Anthony or Fredrick Douglass. Emily Kleykamp, Teen Services Clerk - Dog Owner and Walk Lover
