Pop-Up Library at Read's Ice Cream Tonight!
We're packing our suitcase to get ready for our pop-up library at Read's Ice Cream tonight from 6:30-8:30pm. If you haven't seen our pop-up library yet, you'll probably run into us soon. The pop-up is a mobile version of our library where we distribute books, update and renew library cards, answer questions, and teach people how to use our electronic services, like downloadable ebooks and audiobooks. Since we started our pop-ups this spring, we've talked to hundreds of people and distributed hundreds of books at about a dozen events, and we're currently working on scheduling events for fall. (Keep an eye on our outreach page, Facebook page, and Twitter feed for updates.) The pop-up is made possible by the combined efforts of staff and volunteers along with funding from our Friends group and various donors who have contributed money as well as books (a particular shout-out to Kohl's, Center Point Large Print, and Thorndike Press/Gale for their contributions!). The goal of the pop-ups is to bring our services to people who don't know about them or aren't using them and to get more books circulating in our community. If you're interested in having our pop-up library visit your place or event, please let us know!
