Great Summer“Listening”
The Henrietta Public Library as many of you know offers audio books on cassette and compact disc. We also have access to the Monroe County Library System’s online connection to Overdrive, a website where any MCLS patron can download books to their computer at home and then transfer the book to their Mp3 player or listen to it on their computer. Some titles can be burned to compact disc also.
Here are some of the new books on compact disc that we recently added to our collection:
- Fearless Fourteen* by Janet Evanovich. Stephanie Plum, our favorite bondswoman is back creating havoc and humor with sidekick Lula, the mysterious Ranger and the cool and macho Morelli.
- Devil May Care* by Sebastian Faulks writing as Ian Fleming captures the dangerous and suave James Bond just as the original 007 author intended. The Fleming style is there and the plot involves chase scenes, exotic locales, beautiful women, and the usual evil megalomaniac.
Skeletons at the Feast* by Chris Bohjalian. Based on an unpublished diary of a Prussian woman fleeing the Russian army in WWII Germany, Bohjalian captures the bleak existence of the three war torn refugees: a Prussian aristocrat’s wife, her Scottish POW gardener, and Uri, a Jewish escapee from an Auschwitz bound train, as they struggle westward.
* Indicates available as a downloadable book from Overdrive.
There are many other titles available for all ages at the library on compact disc or through Overdrive. Whether you’re listening for fun or for your school summer reading assignment, come check out our audio book collection at the Henrietta Public Library.
