How to Browse the Music Compact Disc Collection at HPL
The Henrietta Public Library's audio-visual department includes a substantial music compact disc collection of approximately 2500 items. The music CD collection is located adjacent to the library�s video and books on cassette section. The collection contains music from classical to popular and rock to jazz and new age genres.
Our compact discs are shelved by the ANSCR classification system. Titles are arranged in broad catagories such as:
B - Opera
EC- Concertos
ES- Symphonies
K - Musicals
L - Soundtracks
MA- Popular
MJ - Jazz and New Age
MR - Rock
R- Holiday
ZM - Children's Music
Each broad category is then subdivided by the performer or composer of the work and arranged alphabetically by their last name. Finally, a two to four letter combination designates the title of the work: i.e. the ANSCR call number for the musical Anything Goes is K PORT AG. As always, if you can not find a particular item, please ask, and a librarian will assist you.
