The Henrietta Public Library holds nine large historical
maps prepared for computer assisted searching. These maps are encased
n clear plastic, with a grid system written on the plastic. Current street
names have also been attached to the plastic. The maps are platt book
pages (plates) or photographic repoructions of wall maps. The public is
invited to use these maps during the normal library hours. The publication
dates of Henrietta land maps are 1858, 1872, 1902, 1924, 1925, and 1941.
There is a map of Rush dating from 1924.
The maps have been prepared for computer-assisted research.
You can search them for residents by name.
You can also search by fragments of a name, which may be
useful if spellings have changed. For example, if you are interested in
a person named "Gutshaw" and aren't finding them, you might
try searching for "Gut" and you may find them under a variant
spelling. Whatever term you specify will be searched for anywhere in the
name, not just the beginning. For example, searching for "man" will
return Goodman, Manning, Fredmann, etc.
