Meet the Trustees—Tina Thompson

Since 1983, Martina “Tina” Thompson has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Henrietta Public Library, including over ten years as its president. For this service, she was the recipient of a special award from the Town of Henrietta in 1998. The Monroe County Library System recognized Tina’s dedication to public libraries with the Service Beyond Measure Award in 1995.

She is completing her ninth year as a Director of the New York State Association of Library Boards, a statewide organization that promotes library services and helps train library trustees (NYSALB). She is the past secretary and current first vice president of this board.

For 24 years she worked as a home day care provider. Her volunteer activities have included membership in the League of Women Voters, secretary and block captain of a neighborhood association, “room mother”, Sunday School teacher and superintendent, and service on the Board of Directors of Community Child Care.

Tina and her husband “Bob” have been residents of Henrietta since the late 1960’s. Their children are now grown. Their daughter is a school library media specialist for a western New York central school district and their son is a musician. They have three grandchildren.
